My husband used to go to the gym. He has been very conscious with his body since he was just a teenager. I have never understood him before because I thought that going to the gym is just a waste of time. One day, he invited me to come with him to go to the gym. How Many Times a Week Should I Exercise?

Opinions vary as to how many times a week you should exercise but as a general rule I like to leave at least one day between training sessions. When you train and work your muscles hard they actually start to break down and therefore require a repair period. It’s this breakdown and repair cycle that enables your muscles to adapt and get bigger and stronger.
The repair phase occurs when the muscles aren’t being worked and therefore they actually grow during the rest period. If you then decide to work the muscles seven days a week they are continuously breaking down and never have a chance to repair. This in turn means that if you over train you can get worse results than if you took a couple of days off training each week.
Some people will work different muscle groups on different days for example they might do Ab Exercises one day and then squats the next ensuring proper rest for each muscle group while still working out seven days a week.
It’s a lot easier and just as effective to make sure you always get at least one day’s rest between workouts.

With the snow melting and the night coming later and later you know that summer is right around the corner and that means you need to get your body in to shape fast. I figured it was time for me to kick my work out into overdrive and try this new p90x work out routine that everyone is raving about.
